TAKE YOUR PLACE may not be in at the weights to win, but she is consistent and never runs a bad race. At 8/1, she represents the EW value and can run into the money.

This is a very weak maiden race, so be careful when betting and load up in the Place Accumulator. It would not be surprising if an unraced horse wins here. However, I searched for value and found PASS THE BATON. The filly has okay form and can sneak a place with some luck.

Race 3 – 2000m (Maiden Plate)
Another weak maiden race, and you must load up in the Pick 6. My tentative selection is QUELLO CHE, who has moderate form. However, with 54kgs in this poor field, she can win here if she sees out the 2000m.

Race 4 – 2000m (Maiden Plate)
HIGH QUEUE has decent form lines and should love the step up to 2000m. He has finished in the money in each of his last four starts. With Smanga Khumalo in the saddle, the combination can finish in the first three.

MICKE’S BOMB has good form, with three seconds and a third in her last four runs. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena is in the saddle and he can get the best out of her. Her next win is overdue, and this could be the perfect race for that win.

WHORLY WHORLY is a ten-year-old gelding who still seems to have a love affair with racing. Despite his age, he always gives his all. He has been rested for 14 weeks but has shown in the past he can run well from a break. With some luck in running, he can finish in the money.

Race 8 – 1600m (FM 65 Handicap)
CAN’T CATCH ME was caught late last time and pipped into second place. That form line has worked well and there have been four winners. She is back against her sex, and with a handy weight of 53kgs, she can cause an upset. She represents the EW value in the lucky last, so have a bet and let’s hope for some returns.
