Wednesday’s horse racing action is available from the Western Cape, with a nine-race program from the Kenilworth track. Racing begins at 12:15 and includes a competitive Class A event in Race 6. Race 1 – 1000m (Maiden Plate)
HERITAGE RIDGE has been running well and should not be a maiden for much longer. Despite her wide draw, she should be competitive and fight out the finish.

Race 2 – 1200m (Open Maiden)
This is a weaken open maiden, so please stake accordingly. My tentative first selection is PALACE GIFT. The four-year-old has decent form and good form lines. With some luck in running, he should run into the money.

Race 3 – 1400m (Open Maiden)
MYSTIC MAJESTY was disappointing in his last start and has since been gelded. He is having his first run since that gelding, and if fit to race, he should finish in the placings.

Race 4 – 1600m (Maiden Plate)
EXQUISTE finished 1.75 lengths behind the favourite DIAMOND BOMBER last time. They meet on the same weight terms here, but I think the result will be different. EXQUISTE should be fitter now and from a better draw, should run well.

Race 5 – 1000m (Cape C Stakes)
BARNEY MCGREW tried hard last time but had to settle for third. He meets some of his rivals on better weight terms, and that means he should be competitive once again. With better luck, I think he can find the winner’s box.
Suggested Bet – BARNEY MCGREW EW @ 10/1✅ EW PLACE
Race 6 – 1400m (Class 2)
The featured race on the card and it is a very competitive field with most runners rated a MR100+. GET IMPRESSED needed his last run and should strip fitter here. He has a good record over the distance, and should run well and hopefully give us some EW returns.

Race 7 – 1400m (Class 5)
BLACK PATH has found form once again and is running well. With two thirds in her last two starts, she is getting close to winning again. From a pole draw and with 52.5kgs on her back, she is a massive runner.

Race 8 – 1800m (Class 4)
BELA VISTA followed up her maiden win with a good place finish. The filly is progressive and could be ahead of the handicapper. I like her EW odds, and will have a nice bet.

Race 9 – 1800m (Maiden Plate)
Time for the last race of the day and I am in the camp of BOMBERS IN THE SKY. The three-year-old will love the 1800m, and meets the right field to shed his maiden tag. At 6/1 in the betting, he represents the EW value in this race.
