Wednesday’s horse racing action is available from KZN, with an eight-race program from the Scottsville Turf track. Racing begins at 12:25 and includes a competitive Middle Stakes event in Race 5. Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
GOT THE WORD has produced two decent runs and may need further. However, he has scope and seems to be progressive. In a big field, we are getting five places for our EW bet, so he can finish in the money again with some luck.

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)
It is another big field, so there are five places for our EW bet again. LIKE A BUTTERFLY has run two decent efforts in KZN, and I love her value in this race. She carries 57.5kgs and can give her male rivals a challenge.

Race 3 – 1000m (Maiden Plate)
BLOWIN IN THE WIND has produced two moderate runs in KZN but is having her peak run. She if fit and ready, and I think she runs a cracker for us.

Race 4 – 1000m (FM 90 Handicap)
RUSSIAN DOLL has fair form and runs well for Rachel Venniker. She has plenty to do to beat the favourite PRITTI VICTORY, but she can finish the best of the rest.

Race 5 – 2400m (Middle Stakes)
CONTINENTALEXPRESS has run two seconds in Scottsville and is due a win. He is weighted to finish in the top three, and I expect another top run. With some luck in running, he should fight out the finish and hopefully notch his first win in KZN.

Race 6 – 1600m (FM 78 Handicap)
PERILLA carries a top weight of 61.5 kgs but is in a good space. She won well in her last start and can continue that form. Even with poor weight turnarounds, I think she should run well here.
Suggested Bet – PERILLA EW @ 7.5/1✅ EW Place
Race 7 – 1600m (MR 70 Handicap)
I think the value lies with MADISON BLUES in this race. The four-year-old has a hefty mass of 62kgs but has shown signs of a form return. He can finish in the money if he can confirm his last two starts.

Race 8 – 1600m (Maiden Plate)
It’s a tough race to end the day, and you must go wide in all exotics. UMZOLOZOLO has shown improvement in each of her starts and can run well here. She gets the services of Rachel Venniker, and with 54.5kgs on her back, she is a lively lurker. A double-digit value bet in the lucky last, and I say have a good EW bet.

The Western Cape has seen plenty of rain and storms over the past week. Wednesday also sees a Kenilworth race meeting, but further rain is expected, and racing could be abandoned. Trainers have mentioned that horses couldn’t work over the past two weeks, so betting is tricky. I have decided not to suggest any bets, as I am not confident in tipping horses that are not fit. Also, the surface is unknown, and conditions are a mystery with all the rain and flooding. If racing goes ahead, I have suggested some horses to include in your bets. These horses enjoy running in soft, wet conditions, so include them in all your plays.
