Match Details

Five time champions Brazil have their work cut out when they take minnows Haiti. The Samba Boys had to come from a goal down in their first match as they struggled to a 1-1 draw against Morocco. Haiti did not fare much better in their opening match as they went down 1-0 to Scotland. They will take some confidence as their defence kept the Scots at bay for most of the match. The onus will be on the Brazilians to attack from the onset as they look to top the group and continue the tradition of always being group winners since 1982.

Why This Match Matters

This is a do-or-die affair for both teams after they failed to win their opening matches. Brazil still have to face Scotland which will not be an easy encounter therefore three points are non-negotiable for them. Haiti are still looking for their first goal of the finals and will need to be more attacking if they hope for an upset. The loser of this contest will not finish in the top two and almost certainly will be heading home after the group stage.

Brazil vs Haiti Head-to-Head Stats

Head-to-Head Record

Brazil v Haiti Head-to-Head Stats

This will be the first meeting between the two nations at a FIFA World Cup. Brazil have dominated the head-to-head record, winning all three previous encounters, including a crushing 7-1 victory in their most recent clash at the 2016 Copa América. The Seleção have also traditionally enjoyed success against CONCACAF opposition on football’s biggest stage, remaining unbeaten in nine World Cup matches against teams from the region.

Previous Meetings

The most recent meeting between these nations produced an outstanding result for Brazil:

09/06+/2016 (Copa America): Brazil 7 – 1 Haiti

Brazil’s Recent Form

Brazil’s last five matches: LWWWD

Recent results include:

01/04/2026 (Friendly): Brazil 3 – 1 Croatia
26/03/2026 (Friendly): Brazil 1 – 2 France

Brazil came into the World Cup in good form but kicked off their quest for a sixth title in disappointing form as they could only manage a draw against Morocco.

Haiti had won just one of their five matches coming into the tournament as that poor run continued as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Scotland in their opening match.

Team News

Brazil Team News

Injuries: Neymar could only be available if Brazil makes the knockout stages.

Suspensions: No suspensions

Key players to watch: Brazil’s attacking hopes will once again rest on Vinícius Jr who saved his team’s blushes with a brilliant equalizer against Morocco.  Raphinha needs to produce the creativity and goal threat from the wing, while Matheus Cunha will look to make an impact through his movement and finishing ability. In midfield, Bruno Guimarães is the team’s chief playmaker and will be crucial in controlling possession and providing service to the forwards.

Haiti Team News

Injuries: No injury concerns

Suspensions: No suspensions

Key players to watch: Goalkeeper Johny Placide is set to be the busiest man on the pitch as he will no doubt be tested throughout the game. Haiti will look to winger Deedson Louicius and Josué Casimir to provide the attacking spark. Casimir’s pace and direct running could be crucial on the counter attack, while Deedson offers creativity and flair in the final third. Defender Ricardo Ade will be pivotal in keeping the Brazilian attack at bay.

Predicted Lineups

Brazil Predicted XI

Carlo Ancelotti primarily lines up in an attacking 4-2-4 formation. Danilo and Alex Sandro are both pushing for recalls in defence, while Fabinho, Luiz Henrique and Matheus Cunha could also be handed starting roles. Their inclusion would likely see Casemiro, Lucas Paquetá and Igor Thiago make way, with the trio expected to begin the match among the substitutes.

Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Sandro; Fabinho, Guimarães; Henrique, Raphinha, Vinicius; Cunha

Haiti Predicted XI

Haiti are likely to stick with their trusted 4-4-2 system. Josué Casimir is pushing for a place in the starting lineup after the defeat to Scotland, with Frantzdy Pierrot potentially making way and settling for a role on the bench.

Placide; Arcus, Delcroix, Ade, Experience; Bellegarde, Jean; Deedson, Casimir, Providence; Isidor

Match Analysis and Verdict

Brazil are under pressure to secure all three points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their opening Group C fixture. The five-time world champions dominated large spells of that encounter but were unable to find a winning goal. The return of Cunha will give them another target to aim for but Vinícius Júnior remains the dangerman.

Haiti will be no pushovers after producing a spirited display in their World Cup return but were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Scotland. Despite the defeat, the Caribbean side showed plenty of defensive resilience and will look to frustrate Brazil with a disciplined and compact approach. Their best chances are likely to come on the counterattack where the pace of Josué Casimir and Deedson Louicius could cause problems.

Brazil needs to get Raphinha more involved in the game as he is capable of breaking open any defence. The desperation of the Samba Boys will see them coming flying out the blocks. If they can get an early goal, I am backing them to runaway to an easy victory.

Prediction: Brazil 4 – 0 Haiti
