Kenilworth Selections

Race 1 – 1000m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

Worldcraft put in an eye-catching display on debut against winners in a juvenile race. She should be used to racing now, and should she not show any greenness, she should be much more competitive against her fellow maiden rivals in this race.

Suggested Bet – Worldcraft EW @ 9.5/1EW Win

Race 2 – 1100m (Maiden Plate)

The penny has finally dropped on Einstein, and he has run well in his last three races. He is a progressive type and should run another good race here, representing good value.

Suggested Bet – Einstein EW @ 7/1EW Place

Race 3 – 1600m (Class 4)

Ice Rain is seeking her hat trick here, and she is in a good space now. She followed up her maiden win with another victory, and although Enchanting Choice is 3kgs better off at the weights, Ice Rain should still have her beat.

Suggested Bet – Ice Rain to win @ 1.5/1

Race 4 – 1400m (Maiden Plate)

Sound Of The Sea has produced two good runs and meets the right field to shed his maiden. He is a progressive colt and gets top jockey Richard Fourie. If he overcomes his wide draw of 12, he should be a massive runner at the finish.

Suggested Bet – Sound Of The Sea EW @ 5.5/1✅ EW Place

Race 5 – 1400m (Cape B Stakes)

Many of these runners have been racing against each other, and a case can be made for most. The handicapper will be pleased, as a blanket finish looks possible. We searched for value here and found Magic Verse. He once looked like a promising three-year-old colt but went off the boil. He was gelded in March and produced a typical poor first run after gelding. Let’s see how he runs now, and hopefully, he can reward us with a better effort and maybe a place finish.

Suggested Bet – Magic Verse EW @ 25/1 Void – Scratched

Race 6 – 1800m (Class 5)

It is a tough race to call, not because these are top-quality horses, but because it has been long since any of these horses have won a race. We are taking a chance with Eternal Optimist, who has moderate form but is getting weight from her male rivals. She should be competitive in this type of field.

Suggested Bet – Eternal Optimist EW @ 8.5/1EW Place

Race 7 – 1800m (Listed Stakes)

There are some quality fillies and mares in this race; finding a winner has proven difficult. After spending quite a bit of time studying this race, we finally ended up in the camp of Red Palace. She is much better than her last two starts, and we expect a form return now. She is well weighted here, and if she runs anything like her best, she should be mowing them down at the finish.

Suggested Bet – Red Palace EW @ 9/1EW Win

Race 8 – 1950m (Grade 3)

Pacaya seemed to be a lock for the 2024 Durban July at one stage, but he has fallen away over the past few months. He finally returned to form in the Grade 3 Legal Eagle Stakes and now looks to keep that winning run going with another Grade 3 win. He is the one to beat here, and with similar weight turnarounds with his rivals, he should deliver another win for his owners.

Suggested Bet – Pacaya to win @ 2/1

Race 9 – 1600m (Class 4)

Radicchio produced two excellent wins and then ran a shocker in his last start. Based on that poor run, the bookies don’t expect much from him here, but he should bounce back. He has won in this class before, and his last run can be ignored. If he runs anything to what we expect from him, then we will get some returns.

Suggested Bet – Radicchio EW @ 10/1EW Place

Race 10 – 1200m (Class 4)

The lucky last, or the get-out stakes for those who have had a bad day of betting and need a horse to get them some money. Fort Red is our runner in this race, and we love the odds on him. He has produced some consistent runs, and he ran a good fifth against stronger horses in his last start. Now, back in his class, against similar-rated horses, he should produce a strong run.

Suggested Bet – Fort Red EW @ 12/1
