Thursday’s horse racing action is available from Gauteng, with an eight-race program from the Vaal Classic track. Racing begins at 12:15 and includes two competitive Class B events. Race 1 – 1450m (Maiden Plate)
KING OF QUEEN is a fascinating runner in this maiden race. He has relocated from the Eastern Cape, where he ran well but just couldn’t win. If he has settled and can show that Fairview form, he could cause the upset here.

Race 2 – 1450m (Maiden Plate)
LUNAR RAINBOW has good form and ran on well over longer distances. Now back down in trip and over 1450m, I think she should run well. At 15/1, I am shocked at her big odds and will have a nice EW bet.

Race 3 – 1600m (FM 93 Handicap)
CARE FORGOT is better than her last start in a Grade 3. Her form before that run was excellent. I am backing her to bounce back and return to the winners enclosure.

Race 4 – 1600m (FM 76 Handicap)
PLAY WITH FIRE is running well and always seems to run into the money. If this race has not come too soon from her last start, for me, she is the horse they all have to beat.

Race 5 – 1600m (MR 80 Handicap)
PRINCEOFGREEN has showed plenty of signs of a form return. He carries a hefty mass of 62kgs in this race. Still, I think he is overpriced in the betting, and with some luck, should fight out the finish.

Race 6 – 1800m (MR 66 Handicap)
FLAG BEARER takes a drop in trip and gets the services of top jockey Piere Strydom. Three of his four wins have come on this course, so I expect another good effort.

Race 7 – 1800m (MR 93 Handicap)
BACCHUS won his last start much easier than the result shows. That form line has been franked, and despite taking a rise in class, he should run well. Carded to race with 55.5kgs, the three-year-old is a banker for me in all exotics.
Suggested Bet – BACCHUS EW @ 4/1✅ EW PLACE
Race 8 – 1200m (MR 86 Handicap)
Time for the lucky last and I am in the camp of ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES. The six-year-old last won 98 weeks ago, but has finally made a form return. He is a speedy gelding, and should set the pace here. If he does indeed take a front running position, I will be shocked if he does not finish in the top three.
